Amy Winehouse's Posca Wall
Artwork inspired by the singer Amy Winehouse for chalkboard arts made with Posca pens.
Year: December, 2016.
By October 2016 I got contact by Charlie Brownie to create artworks for 3 chalkboard arts in their new store at Cidade Baixa, Porto Alegre, named Charlie Pub.

The concept of Charlie Pub was to keep the already successful coffee shop style of Charlie Brownie, but on the second floor to be a Pub, mixing drinks and sweets - a new concept for the nightlife.

In order to illustrate this concept change from the first floor (coffee / day time) to the second floor (pub / night time) I was assigned to work on 3 chalkboard walls with the theme being the late singer Amy Winehouse. The client gave me total creative freedom and let me decided how I would work the theme in each wall.
On the first stage of this work, I worked on refining my visual references for this project, in order to be aligned to the interior design project made by estúdio254; as well to see how other artists worked on similar projects in coffee shops and pubs and the way they portrayed Amy Winehouse visually.

Music Wall
I worked on lettering with the names of the songs written or performed by Amy Winehouse, and in the top I wrote one of her quotes: "I write songs about stuff that I can't really get passed personally - and than I write a song about it and I feel better."
In the initial project there wasn't an electricity duct, so I had to get back to the studio and reorganize the lettering from the first draft.

Amy Winehouse Wall
For the main wall I was influenced by the Rolling Stones magazine covers. I draw an Amy Winehouse in a vector style to be the central element and worked on letterings of her most important songs by her side - Back to Black and Rehab.
This was the only wall I had done vector work after drawing it.
It was requested by the client to use the Amy's vector image in their social media's communications.

Staircase Wall
For the wall on the first floor (coffee shop floor), I kept it simple, so people would recognize the already familiar concept of Charlie Brownie. I created the WELOVEAMY lettering followed by their social media information and wifi password.

First floor art.
The work was done with Posca pens in order to increase durability of the artwork. I was going for an chalkboard effect, but without the chalk. This was important because the walls were near the costumers walking area.

For the walls on the second floor I worked with 2 assistants to help me to be safe and sound. Thanks Ricardo Costa and João Pedro Martins!

Although the project was finished in December, 2016, the inauguration party was only in January 2017, with a cover band of the singer.

Happiness with the job done.
